LA UNIDAD LATINA

Chapters & Mid-Atlantic Region

ACROSS THE U.S.

By the mid-1980s, the Alpha Chapter at Cornell University made the decision to expand the fraternity to other college campuses. The first expansion school was identified and by 1986 Hermanos from Cornell made regular trips to Binghamton University for the purposes of exposing the fraternity to others and establishing a regional presence for the fraternity.

By the start of the 1990s La Unidad Latina was going through a period of expansion and growth that would require a solid organizational structure and strong group of leaders.

The 21st Century continued on the growth and expansion of the fraternity and its Hermanos. Most notably, the organization began a westward expansion that included chapters established in Illinois, Florida, Texas and California to name a few.

MID-ATLANTIC REGION

In the Spring of 1995, seven gentlemen established the Rho Chapter of La Unidad Latina at Duke University and thus created the genesis of the Mid-Atlantic Region. Before the turn of the century, the Mid-A Region exploded by expanding to Maryland, Washington DC, and Virginia and creating a graduate/professional chapter for alumni in the DMV-area. The newest chapter’s to our region include Virginia Tech and the University of North Carolina – Charlotte.
